I've spent a lot of time thinking about gameplay, actually playing in my head different versions of the game. I realized I was thinking to one huge, unplayable, unmanageable project, or maybe to many different un-connected projects. I had to kill many ideas, to resize many others, and in the end I came up with a basic idea of what could be a fun game.
I then realized that the technical requirements of this idea were those of an mmo. To me this means only one thing, a suitable middleware, and I think it's unity for the client and photon for the server.
This also means learning from scratch these two fantastic tools, but I have very limited time, I really don't know if I still have the obsessiveness required to learn and become proficient with completely new software.
